How you ever wondered what sounds were heard in the environment ancient people lived in? Just by using their smart phone, participants in Bali Sound Tour, a joint effort by Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology and renowned interdisciplinary art group Co-coism, could visit the richly historic place where Bali District where river meets sea through a Cloud virtual guide, going from the prehistoric Metal Age to the Age of Discovery, Qing dynasty settler society to modern times, feeling the unique local cultural landscape.2019 Bali Sound Tour River Route: setting out from Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology, Bali sites, settlements and temples etc. became a natural stage; as directed by the Sound Travel Partner, participants walked and touched, exploring 1800-500 years ago Shihsanhang Culture like taking part in a treasure hunt, using a way different to usual to experience and feel Bali, a place between mountain and river and witness its changes over time.

2020 Bali Sound Tour Mountain Route:Taiwan is the northernmost point of Austronesian languages. Dapenkeng Historical Site on Guanyin Mountain is the earliest known Austronesian Archaeological suite. Through actual village field work, reading research literature, and visiting elders, the artists “conjectured” and “guessed” to “create” “real” sounds. With Bali’s Guanyin Mountain as the main player, viewers were invited to continually follow the guide of the sound up the path, imagining the endless process of migration of human society, look down on Taipei and search for the traces of history.2021 Bali Sound Tour Sea Route 2021:focusing on the Left Bank of Bali, it explored navigation history from the Metal Age to the modern day; with the themes of “When an island Faces the Sea” and marine trade history and immigration history, different life stories and sound situations were portrayed. The route included wharf, old banyan bunker, wedding plaza, Dazhong temple and Kaitai Mazu Temple. Participants could reach each location on foot, touring the Left Bank of Bali through sound theater performance.
